The Perfect Task List

Evernote Task Management

So you’ve spent countless hours scouring the web for the latest and greatest task management system, and if you are in the lucky minority you may have found something that suits you.  If you are like most, this isn’t your scenario.

We spend so much time looking for ways to help us stay organized, only to be overwhelmed by the newest options and flashy features.  What happened to old-fashioned note taking?  I’ll admit that having the option to schedule due dates, importance levels, etc. adds a nice touch – but is it really all that necessary?

Let me introduce you to my preferred note-taking method, made possible by Evernote.

Relevant Auto-Tweeting in 9 Steps

twitter-birdAuto-Tweeting is a wonderful way to compile a large amount of relevant articles that are of interest to you, but one area I see a lot of people fall off the bandwagon is in the relevancy category.  I’ve seen a number of Twitter accounts that tweet way too many articles, or some accounts that attempt to cover too many topics and fall short of catching anyone’s attention, let alone new followers.

In my attempt to help Twitter users everywhere to construct an Auto-Tweeting account, I’ve created the following step-by-step guide that will lead you on your path to an effortless curation of content that is relevant, and not overbearing to your followers.

Step 1.

I’m assuming that you already have a Twitter account, but if this is not the case, creating an account on Twitter.com will be your first action item.  Even if you already have an account, creating a separate one from your personal account could be beneficial.  After you have the account you want to use ready to go, move on to the next step.

Step 2.

You may already have a list of blogs in mind that you would like to Auto-Tweet articles from, but in case you don’t, step two is all about creating this list.  I would recommend coming up with at least eight different blogs to pull relevant data from – you want to pull from multiple sources so you have a wide array of data covering topics you are interested in from different angles.  One point to note here; you will not be tweeting every article published on these blogs, I will show you how to filter through the content to pull only the data that is relevant to your topic.  That being said, feel free to use blogs such as TechCrunch.com, even though there is more information flowing through this website than any one person could possibly care about.

Step 3.

Let me introduce you to a wonderful, yet drastically underutilized, tool called Yahoo Pipes.  If the articles you tweet are your words, then consider Yahoo Pipes your voice box.  This is the tool that allows you to customize your feeds to send out only the most relevant articles, and is a drastically important tool in the functionality of this entire operative.  Set up an account with Yahoo Pipes and move on to step four.

Selling Your Ads

Selling Your AdsThere are many articles available on the web that will teach you the best practices of creating excellent advertisements.  With enough research invested into scouring the World Wide Web you will most likely find enough material to help you create an excellent campaign.  Unfortunately not many of these sources put enough emphasis on the importance of understanding the value you are delivering to the consumer.

In a sales role you are expected to know the product or service you are selling, and know it well.  A good salesman is generally found answering any questions a potential customer has, addressing any concerns, and showing them how this particular product or service is right for them.  Even beyond that, the best salesmen are the ones who truly believe they are giving the customers exactly what they need.

In advertising it is easy to get disconnected from this sales mindset, and unfortunately this divide could be responsible for holding your advertisements back from their full potential.
